We spent a lot of time on planes the past week or so. It seems there's so much they could do just to make everything more efficient – because it seems no carrier is going to make the innate experience any better unless you want to pay exponentially larger fares. Why not use all the doors on the plane to get people in and out faster? What's the reasoning behind Southwest's anxiety-fueling unreserved seat system? Why can't the carry-on system be streamlined?

But the biggest question we had across several different airports in the South and four different flights was... "What if you're too big to fit in a seat?"

Let's face it... Seats are getting smaller. Americans are getting bigger. And Americans aren't getting any better at being in tight quarters with each other. So what happens when you simply don't fit? We found some answers here – but I've never seen them awkwardly put into practice.
